About the photographer
My name is Tomas Eriksson and I am a self-taught photographer from Gävle in Sweden. I call myself a fine art photographer because I look upon my work as expressions of my thoughts and feelings. If I should try to describe my photographical style I give you three words; mystical, surrealistic and melancholy, now it is up to you to decide if those words are the right ones or not.
I am not afraid to challenge myself when it comes to experiment with gear or photo techniques. As an outcome of this I use both my homemade pinhole lens and my digital Holga lens. I also use my Lensbaby Composer a lot and I still do some analogue photography. But mainly I mount one of my Sigma lenses onto my Nikon house. I also think that filters are a gift to a photographer and I use IR-, ND-, graduated ND-, polarize- and UV-filters.
I always work with RAW-files but I am still not in the hunt for the perfect white balance or the sharpest details. My post process includes Photoshop and I use the software as a digital darkroom where the dodge and burn technique is the most important part of the process (I like to highlight what I think is important in the photo). I am also a big fan of Ansel Adams and his way of thinking in zones to control tonal values and thereby achieve the widest range of light and dark in a print. Most of the time I convert my pictures into black and white and some of my photos are made with the HDR technique, I also use Neat Image for grain removal.
Inspiration
I get inspiration from a lot of things and it does not have to be related to photography. But if you ask me which photographers that inspire me you should look into my blog roll (Those I follow). I urge you to visit these great photographers and if you join me on Facebook I will introduce you to even more excellent photographers around the world.
Thank you for visiting my webpage and I hope you will get back to me many times from now on. Do you want to view my photos now?
Best regards
Tomas Eriksson
