A mountain through a Lensbaby

This is a mountain through a Lensbaby (below) and this particular mountain can be seen in the Grövelsjö area in Sweden. I have used my Composer with the double glass optic mounted on my Nikon house. I like the Lensbaby optic system because it gives total artistic freedom for me as photographer.

A Lensbaby does not produce perfectly sharp images and that is something I like. I own both the Composer and the Muse and both of them are great fun to work with even doe I find the Composer to be more user friendly. I also own the whole optic system plus the wide- and telephoto lenses as well as the step up/shade filter (which allows filter use).

Behind the rocks

What is that behind the rocks? Is it a boat? Nooo! Is it a farm? Nooo! Is it a circus? Nooo! Is it a pulp mill? Yeeesss!!!

This is the Stora Enso Pulp Mill in Skutskär, Sweden. If you have visited my blog before you might recognise the mill from earlier posts. Yes! I have a strong fascination when it comes to factories and you will probably see a lot more industrial photos in the future.

So what is coming up now? Well, as a true weekend warrior I will put my gear in the car and go for Billudden or the old iron mill in Forsbacka. It depends on the weather, if it is bad weather with a lot of wind I go for a trip and if it turns out to be sunny I stay at home :).

Is this a wolf in sheep’s clothing? The phrase originates in a sermon by Jesus recorded in the Christian New Testament: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Never the less they are kind of cute :)

I am on flickr (wow, such sensation) and you can view my flickr photo stream here. I really do not know if flickr is good or bad to be a part of. I have friends who are divided into two camps. Those who thinks flickr is for the weekend warrior and his- or her point and shot photos and those who thinks flickr is a great place to market your photography.

I will go for the second opinion. I am not on a high horse and I also think it is crucial to seek visibility in a field as competitive as photography. I just have to admit it, I do photography because I got a little exebitionist living inside me and I think most photographers do. Do you want to do a lot of work and then just view your work by your own? No, I did not think so.

Not all market activities are good but I doubt flickr will harm my photography. After all I am an armature and this journey should be for fun. I have an ordinary work where I can feel the “everyday pressure” so I do not think I should have to feel it concerning something that should be joyful.

My flickr adventure has started and we will see what comes out of it.

Industry photos

I have made a gallery for industry photos. In my ordinary life I work as a market coordinator at a welding company here in Sweden. I have seen a lot of industrial plants and I must admit that I am fascinated by the often very rough environment.

My fascination has made me do quite a lot of industry photos and I hope to do a lot more of them in the future. There is also an historical aspect of this and Sweden, like many other European countries has created its prosperity through the industrial revolution.

I am proud being employed by a company that has the large paper and iron mills here in Sweden as customers. Even if we have a tougher competitive situation than ever before I still hope that many of us will have our outcome from these great companies even in the future.

Crash landing

It is easy to make a crash landing but it is hard to get back on track again. We all have our rough periods where our wings won’t carry us to our final destination.

We have high expectations from life and we tend to set the goals high, and from time to time we set them a little bit too high which can result in a crash landing.

Sometimes all we need to do is to make some reflection and then reload but sometimes we must let things go for a while to get back on track.

How hard you hit the ground depends on how high you fly, it is that simple.

Crash landing

Lighthouses

What is it about lighthouses? They are guides of the sea but in all their goodness they still seem frightening. Is it because they are the last bastion towards the unknown that makes them feel daunting where they stand in solitude? Or is it their construction with their sweeping eye that observes everything in the barren landscape? I cannot help it but I think of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings when I see a lighthouse, but let us remember that I have quite a vivid imagination.

After all I am glad the lighthouses help us find all those safe harbours

Does everything have to be beautiful, neat and cute?

Get some shelter

Get some shelter before the autumn storm gets to you. The boathouses are placed on a row and their mission is to give shelter for those small boats that has been floating on Storsjön (Great Lake) outside Forsbacka in Sweden.

The boathouses have been there for such long time and they contribute to the nice view. I like Forsbacka, the village was founded around 1651 and he reason for this was that queen Kristina of Sweden had given the go-ahead for an iron mill in the area.

Now the clatter from the iron mill has been silent for a long time but many of the buildings are still left as a reminder of a glorious era in the history of Sweden.

Get some shelter

The wave barrier

The cement foundation that you can see in the photo below is part of the wave barrier that protects the harbour at the Stora Enso pulp mill in Skutskär, Sweden. The small beacons at the entrance to the harbour provide safe guidance to the sea men which intend to visit the port. Beyond this wave barrier open sea awaits you all the way to Finland.

It is a fascinating and almost frightening feeling to look out over open sea. An overwhelming feeling of freedom is mixed by a sense of fear of the infinite and together they make a powerful experience. It feels kind of safe being behind the wave barrier after all.
